Not much of an introduction since I have no clue what to tell you about this recipe other than it is delicious and if you feel like baking a cake I highly recommend this recipe. So to keep it short and simple: here is the recipe…

Duurzaam tuinieren

Start eco friendly living today

This year with Food Bandits, we started to focus a lot more on things that you can do to be more considerate of the environment. And we didn’t just discuss different types of cleaning products, laundry detergent, or plantbased foods, but we also explained the chemistry behind all those things. We decided to do this mainly because we so often read nonsense claims about chemistry that we are certain are meant well, but which don’t really end up helping anyone at the end of the time. So, yes, those lefties (and, yes, we’re also a part of that group) can be a bit crazy at times. But whether you vote left wing or right wing, I think we can all agree that we’re in the middle of an urgent climate crisis right now.

Eco friendly furnishing

After having moved house so many times over the past year, I am now quite familiar with the Dutch real estate website Funda, as well as having a solid google street view obsession, real estate agents and mortgages. I have also figured out the best way to quickly fold moving boxes! The technique is rather aggressive at this point: you simply throw a bunch of stuff in it, because regardless of how good your organising skills are, you’ll mostly be searching around for clean underwear the first couple of days anyway.

This house, which I hope is our final destination at least for a while

Make your own margarine

Our first ever IG tv is now online! We have been wanting to make videos like this for a while, but every time we didn’t like what we came up with, until we recently looked back at some of our earliest pictures and were actually pleasantly surprised with how much we liked our “eh, it’ll do” pictures. So inspired by that we have a video and recipe for your own margarine without too much hassle

How to eat eco friendly

Doing more for the environment on a small budget. There’s actually a lot you can do. I believe that we as consumers have the power and ability to make a difference, even just by doing the little things. For example, I have had many arguments with my neighbour, who used to give a lot of loud and highly annoying parties. His excuse for this was that he only did this a couple of times a year. My answer to this was that if all 17 million people in The Netherlands thought the same way, no one would ever get any sleep anymore. In short, you can make a difference! Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I would like to talk about how you can make a difference when it comes to your daily diet and the environment.

Slow Fashion Season 2019

Three months ago, I told you that I was going to participate in the Slow Fashion Season 2019, a challenge where you are not allowed to buy any new clothes for three months. You buy things second-hand, but you certainly can’t buy from fast fashion brands. I said before that even though I try my hardest to live eco-friendly, this would be a particularly difficult challenge for me.

And it was.

Eco friendly laundry detergent

Now that we’ve covered soap, shampoo and cleaning products, it’s now time for… laundry detergent! This article came about in corporation with the Instagram pod that I’ve been in for a long time. I don’t think we’ve come very far yet when it comes to algorithm results, but we discuss pretty much anything. So, you can thank Meatball Inc (how we got that name is a long story) for this blog post.

First, let me debunk a myth that I come across a lot

Eco friendly on a budget

An argument you often hear about why people find it difficult to live more environmentally friendly, is money. Many organic products – whether it’s food, clothes, or cosmetics – are more expensive than the regular products. And sadly, that is the truth. Sometimes I read pieces from brave blogger who come up with all sorts of theories to prove that actually, when you look at your total expenses, this is not true. But whenever I do my groceries at the organic store, I’m shocked to see the bill and I do really want to cry when looking at the prize tags of certain fashion brands. So, yes, living more environmentally friendly is more expensive, but there is also a lot you can do without it ending up with you breaking down in front of a cashier. ..

Coffee to stay chocolate donuts

Not long ago, I wrote an article about sustainable and organic coffee and tea. With every choice we make as consumers, we can exercise a little bit of positive influence on the world around us, such as the environment and work conditions. And seeing as Johann and I aren’t the only ones in The Netherlands with a coffee addiction – Dutch people drink the most coffee in all of Europe – it is amazing to be able to have coffee that not only tastes great, but is also produced fairly.

Recently, I was contacted by Coffee to Stay, from whom I learned that their business does not only make sure coffee bean farmers are compensated fairly for their work, but are also taught how to work with climate change

Eco friendly Organicup

In my search for a sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle, I’ve written about what kind of cleaning products I use, and what soap and shampoo, but also about how I struggle with my H&M clothing addition. It’s a process of constant trial and error, but the intention is there, and the things that do go well, I gladly share as well.

But for a long time now I have struggled to find a good alternative to period products. I wanted something I could trust and thought it was bad enough already to have to deal with PMS each month in the first place

Sustainable coffee and tea

As most of you will know, we are self-proclaimed coffee addicts and have about 78874 different devices to make coffee with to match. I even have a couple more on my wish list. But what about sustainability? Are there ways to be more sustainable when it comes to your daily dose of caffeine? And what to do with the left over lemon peels from my morning drink?

Less waste part two
