Het laatste deel van de serie. Onze kleine ode aan Emmelou. Ik hoop dat de lezers van Bakers and Fakers een fijn recept hier hebben gevonden en opnieuw moet ik benadrukken haar kookboek een must have is. Er zijn nog steeds momenten waarop ik memes zie die ik zo graag met haar zou willen delen, of lekker eten wat geproefd zou moeten worden door haar. Ik zwaai naar elke vleermuis en zing nog harder mee met de Talking Heads in herinnering aan Emmelou.

Als laatste recept, heel toepasselijk voor ons Fries suikerbrood.

Start a garden

Our dream was to have a small farm with lots of land and lots of peace and quiet. While this didn’t work out exactly, with only 500 m2 for a garden, having a forest in front of the house and behind it isn’t bad either. Our next dream was to have our own vegetable plot to grow our own food, because organically homegrown vegetables just taste better! We also have a basement where we can keep many, many preserve jars filled with pickled vegetables, and we are able to share our harvest with others, so more people can enjoy how great homegrown food is…

A simple forest bouquet

Als je ons al langer volgt dan weet je dat Johann en ik elke aangelegenheid aangrijpen om onze inner-bejaarde te vieren. Niet alleen omdat mijn gezondheid een hoop drukte niet toelaat maar ook omdat we oprecht genieten van thuis zijn, of in de natuur en van cake met koffie en een goed boek. Hier onze favoriete wandelingen, sites waar je meer over natuur en planten kunt leren en de allerlekkerste chocolademelk….

Eco friendly furnishing

After having moved house so many times over the past year, I am now quite familiar with the Dutch real estate website Funda, as well as having a solid google street view obsession, real estate agents and mortgages. I have also figured out the best way to quickly fold moving boxes! The technique is rather aggressive at this point: you simply throw a bunch of stuff in it, because regardless of how good your organising skills are, you’ll mostly be searching around for clean underwear the first couple of days anyway.

This house, which I hope is our final destination at least for a while
