Many organic products – whether it’s food, clothes, or cosmetics – are more expensive than the regular products. And sadly, that is the truth. Sometimes I read pieces from brave blogger who come up with all sorts of theories to prove that actually, when you look at your total expenses, this is not true. But whenever I do my groceries at the organic store, I’m shocked to see the bill and I do really want to cry when looking at the prize tags of certain fashion brands. So, yes, living more environmentally friendly is more expensive, but there is also a lot you can do without it ending up with you breaking down in front of a cashier. ..

As most of you will know, we are self-proclaimed coffee addicts and have about 78874 different devices to make coffee with to match. I even have a couple more on my wish list. But what about sustainability? Are there ways to be more sustainable when it comes to your daily dose of caffeine? And what to do with the left over lemon peels from my morning drink?

Less waste part two

Zodra we apart plastic, blik en melkpakken apart konden gaan inzamelen zijn we gaan meedoen. Het verbaasde mij eigenlijk hoeveel plastic we gebruiken en hoeveel zakken je per maand nodig hebt. Wij gebruiken met twee personen en drie huisdieren, ik noem ze 'de vieze kudde' 5 inzamelzakken voor plastic en blik per maand. Dit hebben we terug gebracht naar anderhalf. Hoe? Door alles in de zwarte bak te flikkeren. Oke nee, niet zo.

Linen clothing

Zoals jullie misschien al weten is de kledingindustrie één van de meest vervuilende industrieën en dan heb ik het nog niet eens over de arbeidsomstandigheden. Er zijn steeds meer leuke merken die alternatieven aanbieden. Ik geef toe dat ik nog steeds zwicht voor H&M, Zara en Mango maar ik probeer zeker voor mijn basics eerst te kijken naar biologisch katoen. Iets wat bijna elk merk nu aanbiedt. Maar toch schiet het niet op en gooien we jaarlijks heel veel kleding weg. Zowel als consument alsmede de bedrijven. Dus wat is een fijn alternatief wat ook nog eens mooi is? Waar je oprecht blij van wordt en waarschijnlijk ook langer zal dragen dan één seizoen?

Less waste

Ik vind het best nog wel eens lastig om de juiste keuze te maken met wat koop ik wel en niet. Zo eet ik nu bijna volledig biologisch en gebruik ik zeepbars en eco friendly schoonmaakmiddelen maar ik koop nog wel bij H&M en ik ben erg blij met mijn adidas schoenen want die hebben namelijk een tijgerprint en ik ben natuurlijk wel een aanhanger van de Nel Veerkamp-printjes.
Maar weet je alle kleine beetjes helpen en als jij vindt dat dit onzin is dan weet ik dat ik alleen invloed heb op mezelf en dat daar alles begint.

Soap and shampoo

In een eerdere blogpost waar ik mijn rare obsessie deelde voor schoonmaakfilmpjes op Youtube en ik meer vertelde over de alternatieven voor schoonmaakmiddelen komen we nu bij de volgende producten uit; zeep en shampoo.

Eco friendly cleaning

Dat het niet zo heel goed gaat met het milieu dat moge duidelijk zijn. Aangezien dit de planeet is met al mijn spullen en waar ik het best gezellig heb met Johann is het tijd om na te denken: wat kan ik doen om het milieu te ontlasten? Zo kan iedereen een steentje bijdragen.

En om gelijk maar iets heel erg raars toe te geven: ik ben dol op schoonmaakfilmpjes kijken op YouTube. Ik weet dat het heel raar is maar ik word er heel rustig van.
