Eco friendly Organicup

“Begin again and again and again and again..”

- Organicup komt in twee maten.

In my search for a sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle, I’ve written about what kind of cleaning products I use, and what soap and shampoo, but also about how I struggle with my H&M clothing addition. It’s a process of constant trial and error, but the intention is there, and the things that do go well, I gladly share as well.

But for a long time now I have struggled to find a good alternative to period products. I wanted something I could trust and thought it was bad enough already to have to deal with PMS each month in the first place. Now, the PMS (sadly) hadn’t gone away yet – sorry Johann – and I still always get the incredible urge to go shopping online (and shop a lot!), but I did begin to try out a more environmentally friendly menstrual hygiene product. Especially after reading a post on Mirjam’s blog about how one pad contains as much as plastic as four plastic bags, I knew it was time to try out something else…

And then I came across Organicup, an eco-friendly menstrual cup. At first, I was sceptical. Surely that doesn’t work! It’s way too small and way too large at the same time. I also wasn’t sure whether it’d be comfortable to use or not. But after watching their YouTube video in which they explained everything, I decided to give it a try.

And no, it wasn’t as easy as I had hoped, and then I’m mainly talking about inserting it. It takes some practice and requires you to relax, but it is honestly so easy to clean. And the more you use it, the easier it gets.

The advantage of Organicup is that it lasts much longer than other period products and does not contain any bleach, glue or parfum. It is truly a much, much, much more eco-friendly alternative.

Good to know:

- Organicup comes in two sizes. A for when you haven’t had kids yet, and B for when you have had at least one of them.

- You can directly clean them by rinsing them under the tap, or by using the wipes. Once your cycle is over, you only have to clean them in hot boiling water, and then you’re all set for next month!

- Inserting it takes some practice, as I’ve said, but give yourself some time.

So, would you use Organicup?
